A remote worker talks into their phone at their desk at home -
It's hard to feel like you're being surveilled all the time, but it's somewhat understandable that bosses want a way to make sure their employees are staying on task. But is it enough to just have milestones and goals and trust that your employees are filling their time in a productive way? When you have a workplace full of adults, they probably don't want to feel like they're being treated like children. Supervision can get grating after a while, especially if it's happening for no reason. If you can't trust your employees to do their jobs without being constantly watched, then you have a bigger problem on your hands. If you let people have a little bit of leeway, it's a good show of faith. If you make them feel like they constantly have to prove themselves, then something is wrong.

But the one that was happening in this story was going a little overboard, and the employees in question wanted to know if it was normal or not. So they reached out to the internet to get some second and third opinions. Keep scrolling for more.
